Vegan Vanilla Protein Powder review | 4 Vegan Protein Brands (NOT sponsored)

Do you need protein powder? No. Does it come in handy? Yes. If you’re looking for a vegan protein powder to add into your diet and bump your protein intake, check out my thoughts on 4 vegan vanilla protein powders.

Tasted and rated: 4 vegan vanilla protein powders

MyProtein Soy Protein Isolate (MyVegan range)

MyProtein is one of the most popular and accessible protein brands in the UK and even in Europe. I placed my first MyProtein order in 2014 and still to this day it’s my go to website for sports nutrition. Now, let’s review the Soy Protein Isolate in Vanilla flavour.

Price: £15.99/kg but there’s always a discount flying around.

Taste: Honestly, good. It’s not too sweet and it doesn’t have that weird vegan protein after taste. You might need to enhance the flavour with some Flav Drops if you want a strong vanilla taste. I personally use it in smoothies and in my oats on a regular basis. I can say it’s my favourite.

Composition and protein content: the MyProtein Soy Protein Isolate is made of defatted soy beans. 1 serving contains 116kcal and 27g protein which is pretty impressive.

Overall rating: 9/10 because the quality/price ratio is hard to beat. I know a lot of people struggle to find a vegan protein that does not make them bloated. I personally suffer from bloating when there’s a rather high amount of pea protein, which is not the case for this one. No bloating to report!

Foodspring Vegan Vanilla Protein

Foodspring is a premium sports nutrition brand from Germany. They offer a wide range of vegan and non vegan supplements and snacks. I’ve only tried their vegan vanilla protein so far.

Price: £24.99 for a 600g tub on Amazon. Premium brand, pretty packaging, premium price.

Taste: Different is the word. It was my first time trying pea protein powder. It does have a good consistency and the taste is not awful but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I’ve tried other pea protein powders since then (see next review) and I don’t think Foodspring has the best tasting one.

Composition and protein content: Foodspring Vegan Vanilla Protein mainly contains pea protein and the rest of the protein content comes from hemp, rice and sunflower protein. One serving contains 21g protein for 106kcal.

Overall rating: 7/10 because it does feel like you’re paying for the packaging more than the taste. Plus, this one really made me bloated.

Vivolife Perform Madagascan Vanilla Protein

Vivolife is a truly inspiring brand. Not only their products are made in the UK, vegan and organic but the packaging is home compostable, the delivery is carbon neutral and they plant one tree for every sale. A true example of a genuine eco-friendly business.

Price: £40.99 for roughly 900g. It can seem expensive but considering their ethos and their continuous efforts to be as eco-friendly as possible, I’m happy to pay this price once in a while.

Taste: Amazing. You’ve probably seen a few vegan Youtubers rave about Vivolife Protein and they are absolutely right. It’s a pea protein that tastes incredible. Bonus point for the very silky texture.

Composition and protein content: Vivolife Vanilla Protein is mainly made of pea and hemp protein. It also contains Madagascan Vanilla Bean Powder, Turmeric extract as well as BCAA. One serving contains 25g protein for 136 kcals.

Overall rating: 8/10. The ethos is reflected in the price but if you’re consuming it everyday, it’s expensive. Plus, you might experience some bloating if you’re sensitive to pea protein.

The Protein Works Vanilla Crème Diet Vegan Protein

The Protein Works is a brand that aims to bring out innovative sports nutrition products. They seem to be really focusing on the quality and the sourcing of the ingredients. Like many sports nutrition brands they have developed a vegan range, including vegan vanilla protein powder.

Price: £26.99 for 1kg. It’s not as affordable as MyProtein but still within an “ok” price range.

Taste: Quite frankly, I did not think it’s was the best tasting vegan vanilla protein I’ve ever tried. It is “alright”, but MyProtein tastes better and is cheaper.

Composition and protein content: The protein blend is made of soy, pea and hemp. There’s also a handful of other ingredients such as flax seeds and green tea. All ingredients are GMO-free. One serving contains 107kcal for 21.4g protein.

Overall rating: 7/10. Good, but not the one I recommend the most.

Vegan Vanilla Protein Powder : my top pick

Who’s the winner then? Well, there are two. Depends on your budget and what is important to you.
Vivolife Perform Madagascan Vanilla is DELICIOUS. Buying it means that you’re supporting an eco-friendly company. But it comes with a price.

MyProtein Soy Isolate tastes really good and is great for shakes, proats, baking. The best choice from a quality/price ratio perspective.
