Must-visit coffee shops and veggie food spots in Berlin
I recently spent a handful of days in Berlin which is a wonderful city for foodies and coffee lovers. These are the spots that I really enjoyed and would recommend if you’re heading to Berlin soon!
I’ll be adding more recommendations to this post after my next trip to Berlin in a few months.
Where to have a fancy avo toast in Berlin?
If you love avocado in all its forms, make sure to have brunch at Avocado Club. As the name suggests, this spot is all about avocado dishes (and even smoothies). The creative menu features several veggie options.
I went for the roasted cauliflower toast, which had of course avocado, along with beetroot hummus, leaves, halloumi flakes and roasted cauliflower on sourdough.
If you’re tired of disappointingly thin avo toasts that leave you feeling still hungry, you’ll be pleased with the portion sizes here. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish, and although I was curious about the avocado smoothie, I decided to play it safe and ordered a freshly squeezed orange juice.
The service was quick but the place is busy, definitely book a table especially for more than 2 people.
Where to satisfy your sweet tooth in Berlin?
Best cardamom buns
Acid in the Mitte neighbourhood looks like a street art wall on the outside, but take a look inside and you’ll feel like you’re in an aesthetic Scandi bakery. If you were not hungry, the smell of warm, freshly baked goods will definitely make you find some room for a croissant or a bun.
The cardamom bun was simply excellent, and I wish I had tried the cinnamon bun which looked incredible. I’ve not tried their coffee, but it’s really well rated. I’ll definitely go back next time I’m in Berlin.
Best NY style cookies
OOH Cookies is Berlin’s go-to spot for indulgent, New York-style cookies. Founded with a passion for baking and a love for the iconic chunky, gooey cookies, this spot brings an authentic taste of the Big Apple to the heart of Germany.
Using high-quality ingredients, each cookie is crafted to perfection—crispy on the outside, soft and melty on the inside.
I tried two of their iconic flavours: white chocolate macadamia was incredible, but if you love the taste of cinnamon buns, you really need to try their cinnamon bun cookie which feels like you get the best of both worlds with the perfect cookie texture and the delicious cinnamon-ey taste.

Must-visit coffee shops in Berlin
You would need to spend a month in Berlin to have enough time to explore all the great coffee shops. The few places I had time to visit didn’t disappoint:
Concierge Coffee
This unique coffee shop has a very calm and intimist atmosphere, with only a handful of tables. It’s a dream spot for those who want to drink their flat white in peace or are looking for a quiet spot to work (don’t go there if you’re planning to make some calls).
I’d give the oat flat white a solid 8.5/10. Strong enough but not bitter, made by a friendly barista and I got to enjoy it peacefully. But it was a very small cup, in a few sips it was gone. I personally prefer a “large” flat white.
Mug and Spoon
I stopped by Mug and Spoon for my caffeine fix and once I saw vegan banana bread on the counter, I couldn’t resist. Their flat white is more on the milky side, compared to Concierge which I quite enjoy especially when I’m eating cake at the same time.
The banana bread was served lightly toasted, it was sweeter than expected and exactly what I needed to refuel before carrying on my long day of sightseeing.
Bonanza Coffee (my favourite!)
There are several Bonanza coffee shops around the city and you must stop by one of them whilst in Berlin. Not only are the coffee shops aesthetically pleasing (at least the one on Jägerstraße that I visited), but the coffee tastes incredibly good.
It’s down to sourcing high quality beans, but also to baristas who care about making great coffee.
This was the best oat flat white I’ve had in Berlin and next time, I might pick my accommodation based on the distance to the nearest Bonanza.
