Honest review of Body & Mind massage
I visited Body & Mind during my latest stay in Valencia, in January 2025. I was there to race the Valencia 10k, which was an “A race” for me. Usually I like to book a pre-race massage on the Monday or Tuesday, but I didn’t get a chance to at home, so I thought I’d get one in Valencia on the Friday.
I picked this place because it had excellent reviews and it wasn’t too far from where I was staying. The price list is also extremely reasonable, especially compared to what you often pay in the UK, especially in big cities.
I was a little worried about it being only 2 days out from race day. But my experience coulnd’t ahve been any better.
The day before the appointment, I received a form to complete where I could confirm which type of massage I wanted and add notes for the therapist. I explained that I was racing 2 days later and that I was looking to release muscular tensions, not have my legs battered. I thought it was great to be able to request in advance the type of massage and pressure you’re looking for, so you can have a personalised experience.
Don’t worry if you’re not comfortable speaking in Spanish, they speak English and my therapist happened to be French, so we spoke in my native language.
The room wasn’t fancy by any means, but it was functional and spacious enough. It’s not the place to visit if you want a “luxury SPA-like experience”, but if you want a great massage, then this is it!
The massage itself was exactly what I wanted. Jeanne, the masseuse, perfectly understood what I was looking for and she tailored the session to get my muscles “race ready”. She spent most of the 60 minutes working on my hamstrings, calves and back. She used a bamboo stick which was not only really enjoyable but also helped release knots.
She blended relaxing and sports massage techniques, which was what I needed and were hoping for. I felt incredibly relaxed and could tell that the muscular tensions I was carrying, especially after a day of travelling, had melted away.
I was really glad to have booked it and who knows, it may have helped me run my 37:50 PB!
I’m often in Valencia for running races and I’m pleased to have found a reliable place where I can get a pre-race massage that I know will be personalised to my needs. I’ll definitely be back.
If you’re also travelling to Valencia for a sports event and are looking to get rid of some tensions, post-flight stiffness or to recover after the race, I’d highly recommend booking your massage at Body and Mind!
