Can collagen be vegan? Feel Pro Vegan Collagen honest review
The vegan supplement company Feel have recently introduced their latest innovation: the first real vegan collagen supplement for youthful skin and strong hair and nails. Here’s everything you need to know about vegan collagen and my honest review of Feel Pro Collagen.
About Feel

The whole range is non-GMO, vegan and free from fillers, bulking agents or colourants.

What are Feel’s best-sellers?
Feel are mainly known for their Multi Vitamin, but they also have other supplements such as Vegan Omega 3 (a micronutrient that can be tricky to get enough of on a vegan diet) and even vegan protein bars.
Their most recent innovation is a plant-based collagen powder that helps maintain youthful skin and strengthen hair and nails.
Why is collagen important?
Collagen is a protein produced by the human body and is key to several biological functions, such as providing support in connective tissue, muscle and skin. This protein is responsible for skin elasticity and is important for bone and joint health.
The only issue is, collagen levels start to decline in our mid-twenties, resulting in a gradual loss of skin elasticity. This is why collagen supplements exist.
Can collagen be vegan?
Collagen is found in animals, not plants. Up until recently, all supplements were made with collagen from skin and connective tissue of animals, and there was no such thing as vegan collagen.
However, recent innovations are now making the production of plant-based collagen alternatives possible, harming no animals in the process.
Feel Pro Collagen
Feel has created the world’s first vegan collagen that perfectly replicates the amino acid profile of Type I human collagen produced by the human body. This is the type of collagen present in your skin, hair and nails.
Feel Pro Collagen comes in a strawberry-peach flavoured powder that can be added to water or even mixed into a smoothie.
The formula is also enriched with Gotu Kola, an ancient herb known to promote skin healing and collagen production, as well as Vitamin C which is found in the upper layers of the skin and participates in collagen synthesis.
How is Feel Pro Collagen different to other vegan collagen supplements?
The current ‘vegan collagen’ products on the market are in fact not vegan collagen supplements. They do not contain collagen, but plant extracts that boost the body’s collagen production.
Feel Pro Collagen on the other hand is powered by VeCollal®, a non-GMO vegan collagen that is similar to human collagen without any nasty ingredient or unpleasant after-taste.
VeCollal® is also better absorbed as its amino acids are not lost in the digestion process.
Feel Pro Collagen benefits
Feel Pro Collagen has been shown to “increase collagen production in the body by 135%”
Not only does it help increase skin elasticity to slow down the skin ageing process, but it also supports hair and nail growth. It has been shown to reduce fine lines and wrinkles in 28 days.

One serving a day is all you need!
The fruity flavour makes it easy to drink with water, but you can also mix the powder into your smoothie.

My honest review of Feel Pro Collagen
Being in my thirties and starting to notice visible signs of ageing, I knew that I’d benefit from taking a collagen supplement but I tried a few and was always put off by the taste.
I was keen to try Feel Pro Collagen, especially after learning that it was a “real” plant-based collagen supplement, but I wasn’t sure whether it would pass the taste test.
The taste
An extremely pleasant surprise! I had bad memories of previous collagen powders which quite frankly had a disgusting taste. The Feel collagen powder has a lovely fruity taste and I’ve been able to mix it with water, no need to hide it in smoothies.
Results
At the time if writing this review I have been using Feel Pro Collagen for almost 4 weeks. I’m lucky to have always had strong nails and hair, so I was mainly curious about the effects on my skin.
My fine lines haven’t magically disappeared, but I am noticing that my skin looks a bit more “plumped” and generally healthier.
I think Collagen is a supplement that you need to implement in your daily routine, not just take for a month. I consider it as a preventive measure, letting it work in the background and slow down the skin ageing process.
Final thoughts
With the taste not being an issue and knowing that there’s no nasties in the formula, I don’t see any harm in continuing to take this collagen supplement to help maintain skin elasticity and top up my collagen stores. When I hit my forties, I’m sure I won’t regret having taken this supplement in my thirties.
If you’ve been looking for a collagen supplement that tastes good and isn’t filled with questionable ingredients, I would recommend giving Feel Pro Collagen a go.
Oh and if you order a tub of Pro Collagen, I would highly recommend adding in a pack of protein bars to your basket, they are delicious and are a handy way to bump up your protein intake!
Make sure to click through the link for the code PARTNER20 to apply to basket :)
