There are currently 16 flavours available including sweet empanadas and vegan options.
Vegan empanadas in Malaga
Vegan empanadas are not widely available yet but not impossible to find. Every time I went to Spain in the past I used to get vegan empanadas from Malvon, but currently, the vegan options have disappeared from the menu at their Malaga location.
I had to go on a quest for another vegan empanada spot and this is how I discovered Las Muns, which is located in the Soho neighbourhood in Malaga.
The takeaway shop is located on 14 Calle Tomás Heredia, 29001.
It’s open every day from 11:30am to 10:30pm, ideal for a lunch on the go or to pick up dinner on your way back from a day out in Caminito Del Rey.
Las Muns vegan empanadas
At the time of writing this article, Las Muns offer 2 vegan options:
Humita: roast pumpkin, onion, corn and vegan bechamel
Cheeseburger: vegetal ground “beef”, vegan cheddar, chives and spices
How much does a vegan empanada cost?
Count 3.25€ for a Humita empanada and 3.95€ for a Cheeseburger one. If you’re a group, opt for a pack as you can get 8 empanadas for a fixed price of 24€.
Should you try Las Muns vegan empanadas?
If there’s a Las Muns spot where you are in Spain, you should definitely stop by and get a few of their vegan empanadas! They are very tasty and filling, absolutely not bland or boring!
Out of the two flavours, my favourite was the Humita. The roast pumpkin and vegan bechamel make a great flavour combo. It was an absolute delight to savour them outside in the sun on my lunch break.
If you enjoy “meaty” taste, you’ll probably prefer the cheeseburger one which is mock-meat based. The filling really looks like ground beef and the vegan cheddar is pretty tasty.
Even though I’m not a huge fan of the “beef” taste, I still very much enjoyed this empanada.
