Where to eat vegan in Murcia | The best plant-based options in Murcia city

I recently spent a week in Murcia and I was pleasantly surprised with the vegan scene in the city. Although I was mainly there for a running race and a lot of home cooked meals, I still enjoyed going out for a few meals. If you’re going to Murcia soon, check out these spots for delicious plant-based foods!

Go to Mano a Mano for a vegan pizza

Mano a Mano is mainly a pizza place but they also do empanadas and have a rather appealing selection of vegan desserts.

Whilst this is not a 100% vegan restaurant, they have 5 types of vegan empanadas and over 10 vegan pizzas to choose from, as well as vegan desserts ranging from ice cream to chocolate pizza.

I had an individual pizza which was more than enough for me, but if you’re really hungry or are sharing, get a familial pizza (XXL size).

I went for the mushroom pizza and found it really tasty. The vegan cheese they use is delicious and melting to perfection. The crust is on the thin side, which I personally prefer as too much dough makes me feel full much quicker.

This spot offers great value for money. Up to 8€ for an individual pizza and up to 16€ for a familial one. I would definitely go again and maybe have a couple empanadas then try their chocolate pizza!

Pick up some vegan empanadas at Malvon

Malvon is a popular chain in Spain with locations in several cities. They currently have two vegan options: the Thai and the Criolla. I went a couple times and picked up some empanadas either for a quick snack (they can warm them up for you so you get to eat them straight away) or as a side for dinner.

I personally preferred the Criolla one which is made with Heura (a mock-meat brand) and vegetables. It’s very tasty and quite filling.

The vegan empanadas are part of the Gourmet range and are slightly more expensive than traditional ones: 3.5€ per unit.

Enjoy a 3 course vegan meal at Pistatxo - for less than 15€!

Pistatxo is my favourite out of the spots I went to in Murcia and I wish there was a similar concept in London!

Pistatxo is a vegetarian restaurant (but 80% of the menu is vegan) with a 3 course menu that also includes some nibbles, a cold drink and coffee or tea. Everything my partner and I had was full of flavours, nicely presented and the portions were just right.

The menu changes every week, but to give you an idea of the cuisine, I started with falafels served with a creamy dip, followed by a chickpea curry (not too spicy) and a vegan brownie which was served warm and perfectly gooey.

My partner had guacamole served on potato slices, followed by lasagna (veggie dish) and the brownie too.

We had an awesome experience and the price was more than reasonable for the quality of the food and the service.

It’s 13.5€ per person during the week and 14.5€ on weekends. If we lived in Murcia, we would absolutely go every week.

Have breakfast at Socola Bakery

Socola is a lovely, quirky cafe with a variety of dishes on the menu. Although it is open all day, I went in the morning and can only share my experience of their breakfast menu.

They have many vegan options from pancakes to smoothie bowls, toasts and a selection of fancy coffees.

I went for the first time with my partner, we shared vegan pancakes (served with maple syrup and banana) and both had an acai bowl. We absolutely loved the pancakes, the texture and taste were perfect.

The acai bowls were good but we had better ones elsewhere. I would say that the toppings were a bit of a miss, I would have liked some chocolate nibs, coconut and granola instead of just fruit and oats.

I went back a second time and had the Toasta Deli Montreal, which is a loaded toast made with delicious artisan bread, peanut butter, maple syrup, banana, granola and blueberries. It was really, really satisfying!

They also make delicious coffee! A great breakfast spot with everything reasonably priced. For example, the toast is 4.50€ and the pancakes are 5.25€.
