RunThrough Victoria Park 10k race review

I recently took part in the RunThrough Victoria Park 10k race. Here’s my honest review of this event and what to expect if you enter the next one.

Please note that I’m talking about my own experience in March 2025 some things may change in the next editions.

What to expect at the RunThrough Victoria Park 10k

Victoria Park 10k is one of RunThrough’s most popular events in London. This race takes place several times a year, and there’s usually a half marathon and 5k distance on the same day.

The 10k is a 3 lap course with a water station (that you run past 3 times). There are marshals on the course as well as signs to keep you going to right way, but it’s fairly easy to know when you need to turn towards the finish.

You can check the course and all the details on my Strava activity here.

Pre-race logistics

RunThrough’s proactive communication ahead of each of their event is spot on. You’ll receive a couple emails with everything you need to know, and a complete event guide on race week.

It’s sometimes possible to opt to receive your race number via the post (for a small fee) if you enter early enough.

The RunThrough London races, especially at Victoria Park and Battersea Park are often sold out, and a lot of runners will be lining up to pick up their numbers. It’s not a bad idea to choose this option if offered to you, especially if it’s your first race, if it helps put your mind at ease and reduce the pre-race nerve, or if you know that you’ll be short on time in the morning.

Otherwise you can simply collect it on race morning, just make sure to have your entry confirmation email if you need to show it.

There’s always a secure bag drop. Your race number will have a detachable bag tag that you need to pu on your bag before dropping it off.

There are portable toilets near the start.

What do you get at the finish?

Your finisher medal, as well as a couple snacks. There’s often home made flapjack which is a delicious and easy refuel option.

You can also grab water and any other goodies from companies that are sponsoring some of the races.

RunThrough Victoria Park 10k: my experience

You can watch some footage of the race and my experience in this vlog:

Here’s what I enjoyed the most about this event:

  • RunThrough really know how to put on a good event. The Victoria Park 10k race was no different! You can always expect a friendly team, uplifting atmosphere and super smooth organisation.

  • Victoria Park is flat and the path is reasonably wide, which gives you a great shot at a fast time.

  • The congestion wasn’t as bad as I expected, and I was able to run my fastest 10k to date!

  • I was surprised with how many spectators were on the course, I didn’t expect this much support but it really added to the atmosphere and helped me push myself til the end.

Any downsides?

  • Multi lap races with different distances always come with a risk of congestion. You can’t know in advance how bad it will be, but the faster you are the more impacted you could be. This time around it wasn’t too bothering, from my personal experience it’s worse at Battersea Park.

  • It can be hard to find a pack to run with. You’ll be passing runners, but might struggle to find people who run at the same pace. I was passing half marathon runners, but I wasn’t running with anyone and I wonder how much faster I could have been if there had been a group to work with.

  • The race photos are free, but this means that you can’t expect much. I don’t even have a finish line photo!

If you find these race reviews helpful, a coffee would be very much appreciated :) And if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch via the contact form.
