On Cloudeclipse unsponsored review

I decided to give the On Cloudeclipse a go and here’s my honest, unsponsored review.

On Cloudeclipse: a max-cushioned daily trainer

The Cloudeclipse is On’s road running shoe that boasts the most cushioning to date.

This neutral daily trainer has a 6mm heel to toe drop and is equipped with some of On’s signature features:

  • Double CloudTec Phase®: Upon landing, the dual-layer CloudTec Phase® cushioning compresses to effectively absorb shock. This creates a seamless transition from heel to toe, delivering a smooth and cushioned ride.

  • Helion™ Superfoam: The extra-thick midsole shields you from intense impact without adding bulk, protecting your joints and ensuring your legs stay fresh, even during long runs.

  • Speedboard™ Technology: The Speedboard embedded in the midsole is designed to convert the energy from landing into forward momentum and adding a propulsive feeling.

This shoe also features a built-in tongue that keeps your feet locked in, an engineered mesh upper for breathability and rubber pads on the outsole that come in handy in wet conditions.

Where to find the On Cloudeclipse at the cheapest price?

The Cloudeclipse retails at £170, but last season’s colourways are started to get discounted. I got mine for £135.

You have good chances of getting a discount on these shoes when ordering via an online retailer, such as Sigma Sports, Pro Direct or Sportsshoes.

On Cloudeclipse: my honest review after over 200km

I love a max-cushioned shoe and after seeing my partner enjoying the Cloudeclipse so much, I decided to get myself a pair too.

They felt incredible right out of the box, I didn’t feel like I needed time to break in them. My very first run in those was an easy 10km and I knew that they were going to be my new go-to daily trainer.

What I love the most is the comfort they provide, thanks to the generous cushioning. Combined with On’s signature Speedboard and CloudTec, the foam shields you from the impact but doesn’t reduce the momentum, in fact you’ll get quite a snappy toe off feeling.

To me, this shoe is an upgraded version of the Cloudmonster, even more cushioned and comfortable.

I wear the Cloudeclipse for most of my easy runs, long or short. I especially enjoy wearing them for a recovery run the day after a long run workout or a track session.

The only little downside is that although they’re meant to be grippy in the rain, I do find them a little slippery on wet roads.

At the time of writing this review, I’ve done a little over 200km in these shoes and the outsole still looks brand new. My partner has put at least 800km into his first pair and they’re still in his shoe rotation. Time will tell, but I’d like to think that they’ll be rather durable!

If you need a new daily trainer and cushioning is the key feature you’re looking for, you cannot go wrong with the On Cloudeclipse!
