Is Biossance 100% vegan and what are the must-try Biossance products?
Biossance based their success on one key skincare ingredient: plant-based Squalane. But is the brand 100% vegan? Here’s everything you need to know about Biossance and their most popular products you need to try.
The Biossance Story
The Biossance story didn’t start in the skincare industry. In 2003, their scientists developed an innovative biotechnology in their Berkeley labs, that would allow to create an accessible cure for Malaria.
They then turned to skincare and carried on developing formulas that are effective for your skin but don’t harm the environment. This is the essence of Biossance skincare.
They focused their attention on one ingredient in particular: Squalane. Since the 16th century, sharks have been hunted for their squalene, which is an oil found in their liver that is used for moisturisers and other skincare products.
Biossance created a renewable, sugar-cane derived version. Ethical and vegan, this squalane is estimated to save 2 million sharks every year.
The key Biossance ingredient: Squalane
Our body produces squalene, but this decreases as we get older. Biossance plant-based alternative is bio-fermented to remain highly stable and is an incredible moisturising ingredient suitable for all skin types.
There are many benefits to using Squalane in your skincare, such as:
Locking moisture in
Soothing the skin
Improving skin elasticity
Balancing oil production without clogging pores
Plant-based squalane is Biossance’s signature ingredient and present in all of their products.
Is Biossance 100% vegan and cruelty-free?
YES! Biossance deeply cares about the environment and the safety of all living beings. All of Biossance products are cruelty-free and vegan.
Biossance products are also free from over 2000 ingredients that are known to be toxic to the body and the environment. All of their ingredients are sustainably sourced.
Plus, their tubes and bottles are completely recyclables and their outer cartons are made from sugarcane paper (without any inks that wouldn’t be recyclable).
