About Fussy
Fussy is on a mission to help us reduce the considerable amount of single-use plastic items we have in our bathrooms, starting with deodorant. Their goal was to create a sustainable and refillable deodorant that is effective and convenient to use.
The adventure started on Kickstarter back in 2020, before they went onto pitching their idea on Dragon’s Den.
What makes Fussy a sustainable company?
Let’s start with the refills, handmade in the UK. They are plastic-free and housed in a sugarcane containers that decompose in the bin. Each refill is made with natural ingredients (100% cruelty-free and vegan) such as sunflower wax, coconut oil, shea butter and tapioca.
Finally, Fussy deodorant is certified carbon-neutral (working with Climate Partner) and each unit sold contributes to supporting green energy projects. The company is also awaiting their B-corp certification.
Fussy deodorant
How does it work?
It’s fairly simple. Pick your case and your refill scent, which are then delivered to your door. Now you just need to insert the refill inside the case (which is a 30second job) and you can start using the deodorant straight away.
The subscription system allows you to receive refills without having to think about it. One refill lasts about 4 weeks if you’re using deodorant once a day.
How much does it cost?
The starter pack is £12 for a case and one refill on a subscription basis. You then pay £15 for 3 refills on your subscription. The subscription option is super flexible, you can cancel anytime.
You can also opt for the one-off purchase pack, which is a case and three refills for £26.
Is it an antiperspirant?
Fussy deodorant is not an antiperspirant, therefore it won’t block your sweat.
Sweating is an essential body function and the only inconvenient thing about it is the smell, which Fussy deodorant does block! The formula is scientifically proven to neutralise the bacteria responsible for body odours.
Is Fussy suitable for sensitive skin?
Whilst the original formula only contains a tiny amount of bicarbonate of soda which shouldn’t irritate fussy armpits, Fussy have more recently launched a bi-carb free range of Sensitive Skin scents. Find out more in this post.
My honest Fussy review. Is it better than Wild deodorant?
I was curious to try Fussy, as I’ve been using Wild for over a year and I wanted to compare. After using Fussy for a couple weeks, here are my honest thoughts on how the two compare.

The refill system
Inserting the refill is easier with Fussy and it makes me think that the case might be more durable as there’s less fiddling.
Refilling the Wild deodorant can be a little tricky and I actually had to replace my case after less than a year.
The deodorant
The scent: I’ve really enjoyed all the Fussy scents I’ve tried and there are options for everyone, whether you like citrus, floral, woody or minty notes.
My personal favourite to this day is still Cloud Nine Fresh, closely followed by Coconut Milk Tropical which is especially great in Summer time.
Wild do come up with a wider variety of scents with a bunch of limited editions, and quite a few were too “out there” for me, like chocolate. I’d rather stick to more classic scents for my armpits!
White marks? The downside of Wild for me is that when the temperatures rise, the deodorant tends to get a bit melty and I experienced white marks as well as residue on my armpits. It’s not an issue I’ve had with any of the Fussy scents I have tried.
The price
Both deodorants are in the same price range, with subscription options to save on refills.
Overall, Fussy deodorant is a handy, convenient and effective way to switch to refillable deodorant, not only for the planet but also for the good of your armpits! I couldn’t recommend it enough, and you can give it a go at a discounted price with code AFFCHLOE15 for 15% off here.
