Testing out the Adidas Women Ultraboost 21 & more Adidas Winter gear!
Following on my previous Adidas blog post where I reviewed some Winter running gear, I’m delighted to collaborate with Adidas again and put more products to the test, including the latest Adidas Ultraboost running shoes!
This blog post is in collaboration with Adidas, but I got to choose the items I wanted to review and I am totally free to write exactly what I want.
Testing out the Adidas Ultraboost 21 running shoes
I was really excited to try the new version, as the Ultraboost, were my very first “real”pair of running shoes back in 2018. I had two pairs that I used up until they were not wearable anymore. Anyway, back to the 21 version!
What makes the Ultraboost 21 better?
Improved Torsion System
The shoe features Adidas’ improved “Torsion System”, which limits flexing of the arch and the strain you put on your foot when running.
The Torsion system has been a huge component in Adidas running shoes for over 20 years, It is designed to make your runs feel more responsive with a smoother heel to toe transition.
Improved Boost technology
Adidas’s signature Boost technology combines soft AND responsive cushioning in a midsole that is made from thousands of expanded particles that form closed cells around small pockets of air. Introduced in 2013, this technology hasn’t ceased to improve, bringing together optimal energy return, performance and comfort.
The 21 version features 6% more Boost capsules for even more explosive energy return.
Primeblue
This shoe is made with Primeblue, a high-performance recycled material made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic.
Technical details
The shoe weighs 340g and the midsole drop is 10mm (heel 30.5 mm / forefoot 20.5 mm)
My thoughts on the Ultraboost 21
As soon as I put them on for the first time, I instantly remembered the good old Ultraboost fit and the comfort that makes you think you’ve just put on a pair of slippers.
I wore them for the first time at a Parkrun, I thought a 5k at a moderate effort was a great first test. The comfort and responsiveness didn’t come as a surprise, to me the Ultraboost is the reliable pair of running shoes that never lets me down.
The only thing I’d say is, don’t wear ankle socks on your first few runs with these. I made that mistake and I ended up with small blisters on the sides.
I’ve worn the Ultraboost 21 mostly for easy runs and some tempo runs, which I think is the best use you can make of these shoes. They are responsive, but not quite race shoes.
Make sure to go half a size up as recommended on Adidas website! I’m usually a 4 and the 4.5 was definitely the right size for me. I got the classic black with white sole, but there are 21 colours available!

More Adidas Womenswear reviews
I also got to review some more running gear and the cosiest oversized sweater!
Adidas Fast Graphic Primeblue Jacket
This jacket is an absolute dream! Not only is the print super stylish but this half-zipped jacket is super lightweight. It won’t get in the way of your fast runs, whilst still keeping you shielded from the wind & light rain.
It is part of the high performance Primeblue line, made with 100% recycled polyester plain weave. It also features durable water-repellent (DWR) coating and reflective details, perfect for those Winter runs.
This jacket is quite oversized and you can see on the website that Adidas recommend sizing down. They’re absolutely right. I’m usually an XS, I went for a 2XS (which seems now unavailable) and I still have loads of room!
I chose the grey print but this red one is gorgeous too.

Adidas Thermal Quarter Zip Hoodie
I’ve used it for both short and long runs so far, I’d say it’s particularly great for long Winter runs. I can start off with the zip up and hood over my head to get warm then pull the hood back and open the quarter zip to allow more airflow when I’m warm enough. Plus, the Aeroready fabric absorbs moisture so I never feel too warm and steamy in this top.
You can use the zip pocket at the back for your key or other small items.
The fit is very snug, you couldn’t wear a top underneath but you can add a jacket or windbreaker over it when it’s really cold.
Made with 75% recycled polyester, this hoodie features the iconic reflective 3-Stripes for you to be seen when running in the dark.

Adidas Fast Primeblue Tshirt
I recently went to Malaga and this top was perfect for morning runs. Now that I’m back in the UK, I’ll save this top for gym sessions and treadmill runs until the weather gets warmer!
I really like the cropped, relaxed fit. It’s really comfortable to wear and allows you to move freely, whether you’re doing an easy run, a session or a gym workout.
Plus, this top is made with high-performance recycled and reflective material made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic.
I got it in black but you can also find it in light blue.

Adidas Loungewear Adicolor Essential Sweatshirt
It’s not called Essential for no reason. It has quickly become my go-to sweatshirt to lounge around or quickly throw on with a pair of jeans. I also wore it a lot in Malaga when it was a bit chilly in the morning.
It has a casual, almost oversized fit and it is recommended to size down so that it’s not too big at the shoulders. I’m usually a 6, I went for a 4. It’s another Adidas item made with some recycled materials (70% cotton and 30% recycled polyester)
I don’t know how I went for so long without this piece in my wardrobe, now that I have it I’m pretty much living in it!
