Wondering which Urban Decay products are vegan? Discover the updated list and some Urban Decay vegan best-sellers to try!
Is Urban Decay cruelty-free?
Yes, Urban Decay is a cruelty-free brand certified by PETA. They only work with suppliers that do not test any of their ingredients on animals and the brand itself don’t test any of their products on animals.
Urban Decay products are not sold in China, where animal testing is required by law.
Here’s the statement you can read on Urban Decay’s official website:
“We do not test our products on animals, nor do we allow others to test on our behalf. Additionally, we require our suppliers to certify that the raw materials used in the manufacture of our products are not tested on animals. Our Brand is certified by PETA as cruelty-free.”
Has Urban Decay always been cruelty-free?
In 2012, a few years after winning a PETA award, the brand decided to get on the China market which meant that they would have to allow third party companies to perform animal testing for their products.
This didn’t go down well with their fans and the brand came back on their decision very quickly.
Since then, Urban Decay has remained 100% cruelty-free.
However, it is important to note that Urban Decay’s parent company is L’Oreal, a cosmetic group that is far from being cruelty-free.
Is Urban Decay vegan?
Although a lot of Urban Decay products are vegan, the brand isn’t fully vegan as they still use some animal-derived ingredients in some formulations. The list of Urban Decay vegan products can be found in the next section of this post.
It seems like the brand is moving towards creating more vegan products and might end up being 100% vegan.
Here is part of Urban Decay’s statement in regards to vegan products:
“Urban Decay certifies that our products marked vegan do not contain any animal-derived ingredients. As long as we can deliver the same high-quality products with rich Colour and texture, we will convert that product to 100% vegan ingredients, so be on the lookout for new offerings.”
Which Urban Decay products are not vegan yet?
Some of the best-sellers are not vegan yet, such as the Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette. However, many other cult products from the brand are completely free from animal-derived ingredients.
