My Somadome & Body Roller experience at Re Place, the wellness studio in Notting Hill

I recently visited Re Place, an innovative wellness studio in London where I tried both their Body Roller and Somadome sessions. Here’s the full review of my very first experience at Re Place.

Re Place: wellness & recovery studio in Notting Hill, London

Re Place is an innovative, tech-assisted wellness & recovery studio in Notting Hill. Equipped with Body Rollers and a Somadome, it’s the perfect place to hit the reset button and take care of both your body and mind.

Where is Re Place?

The studio is located in the heart of Notting Hill, just a short walk away from Notting Hill Gate & Bayswater tube stations. You can find it on 2A Chepstow Road, W2 5BH.

Re Place is open every day from 10am to 6pm (8pm on Tuesdays).

The space itself offers a quiet escape from the buzzing city, where you feel invited to slow down, take your time and fully relax.

What does Re Place offer?

Re Place currently offers 2 types of tech-assisted sessions:

  • Body Roller: this multi-tasking massage machine targets the entire body to release muscle tension and promote lymphatic drainage, but also increase range of motion, tighten the skin and enhance overall well-being.

  • Somadome: get in a state of deep relaxation in the world-first, tech-enabled meditation pod that combines binaural beats, colour therapy and healing magnets.

Curious? Find more about my experience below.

*I was kindly invited by Re Place but there was no obligation to post and I had such a lovely experience that I wanted to share it on my blog, so other London-based wellness enthusiasts can hear about this place! *

My first Body Roller session at Re Place

As a runner, I was very curious to try the Body Roller and see how my muscles would feel afterwards. I had a 45 minute session.

The Body Roller has soft rotating wooden beads that deeply relax your muscles and relieve tension, whilst also encouraging lymphatic drainage.

It is also equipped with infrared technology that heats up the muscle for an even more relaxing feeling. This added feature further promotes blood circulation and cell regeneration.

All you have to do is stand/sit still in various positions and let the machine do the work! You can adjust the intensity of the vibrations to what suits you best via the built-in screen and turn off the infrared if you get too warm.

A Re Place team member will be with you during your very first session to guide you through each posture and provide personalised recommendations to ensure that you get the most out of your time on the Body Roller.

For instance, as I am short, some postures needed adjusting so I could effectively hit the targeted muscles and relieve all tensions.

The screen also shows video demos for your following self-guided sessions, although the team is always happy to assist.

There are several Body Rollers in the room, but you can draw the curtains around the one you’re using so you have your own little space.

I absolutely loved my Body Roller session. Not only did the massage feel really good, especially on the calves and upper back, but I also enjoyed being able to effectively target specific muscle groups such as the IT Band, adductors and hip flexors, that can be hard to relax with a foam roller or even a massage gun.

Feeling the heat of the infrared light was also really nice and I could feel that my muscles were getting more and more relaxed.

I run pretty much every day and lift weights several times a week. I can always do a little bit more to enhance my recovery, so that I can prevent injuries and train consistently.

I came to the studio with tight hamstrings and all tensions were relieved after the session. It’s like I had just had a sports massage!

My legs felt amazing for the rest of the week and my visit to Re Place might have helped me get a new 5k PB a few days later! I’ll definitely be back for more sessions.

I think Body Roller sessions are particularly great to take your recovery routine to the next level if you’re someone who exercises a lot or is prone to niggles. Not only will you get rid of all tensions but you’ll also get plenty of other benefits and will leave feeling super relaxed.

Sounds like something you’d like to try? Book your session here. One 45 minute session costs £40. If you’re short on time or want to focus on sports recovery, a 20 minute session costs £25.

You can also buy a pack of sessions to make some savings or even set up an unlimited membership to visit as much as you want!

My first Somadome experience at Re Place

My Body Roller session was followed by my first Somadome experience in the room next door.

The Somadome is the world's first meditation dome founded by Sara Attia. A session lasts 20 minutes and you can choose between a range of meditations that are guided or unguided and focusing on different benefits, from better sleep to enhanced focus, which you listen to with headphones.

This innovative meditation pod ancient healing practices with modern technology, harnessing the benefits of binaural beats, colour therapy and healing magnets.

There are curtains around the Somadome and you can have a blanket to feel even more comfy.

The result? An incredibly immersive experience in what feels like a cocoon. I was recommended to choose a relaxing meditation programme for my first try.

I have always struggled to get into a meditative state, but being in this pod really helped me get closer to reaching this state and I felt like any stress I was carrying had left my body. If it had been an evening session, I might have fallen asleep!

I’d love to try different meditation programmes to see which ones seem to work best for me.

Want to experience the Somadome? Book your session here for £25.
