Pelotan sunscreen review | I tried the SPF Kristian Blummenfelt & Gustav Iden swear by
This Summer I’ve been testing out Pelotan, the sun protection brand made for athletes. Here’s everything you need to know about Pelotan sunscreen and my honest review.
I was kindly gifted Pelotan products, but this review reflects my own, honest opinion and I only recommend brands and products I genuinely enjoy using.
About Pelotan: “High Performance Sun Protection for Athletes”
Especially designed for athletes who train outdoors, Pelotan offers high-performance sun protection and comfortable wear, ensuring that athletes can focus on their performance without risking sunburn or skin damage.
Suitable for both body and face and for all skin types, Pelotan sunscreen has been lab-tested to provide up to 8 hours of SPF 30 protection, even during intense sweating.
Its unique formula binds seamlessly with the skin without clogging pores, ensuring optimal breathability and temperature regulation.
Trusted by world-class athletes
Alongside being the official Sun Protection Partner of British Triathlon, Pelotan is the sunscreen many top athletes swear by, from triathletes Gustav Iden and Kristian Blummenfelt to ultra runner Tom Evans and Olympian track athlete Alex Bell, just to name a few.
Does Pelotan stain clothing?
Pelotan isn’t the type of suncream to leave yellow streaks on your running or cycling gear. As long as the product has fully absorbed before you get dressed, your kit won’t have any marks even if you sweat.
Is Pelotan cruelty-free and vegan?
Pelotan states on their website that their sunscreen is cruelty-free and vegan. Both the ingredients and the finish products are not tested on animals, and the formula is free from animal-derived ingredients.
Pelotan sunscreen range
Right now, Pelotan SPF 30 comes in the following versions:
Pelotan 100ml Spray - £14
Pelotan 200ml Spray - £22
Pelotan 50ml Roll On - £11
You can also find the whole range on Sigma Sports.
Honest Pelotan sunscreen review
I was recently on holiday in Kos where I spent a lot of time in the sun and got to extensively put Pelotan to the test.
As it was the only sunscreen I brought, I wore it when running and swimming but also sightseeing and sunbathing.
Here’s what I particularly enjoyed about Pelotan:
It feels incredibly lightweight on the skin, so much so that at first I was wondering whether it would be that effective. I’m happy to report that I didn’t get sunburnt once, so it does work.
It absorbs very quickly without leaving a greasy, sticky feeling on the skin.
With all the previous sunscreens I’ve used, if I’m running and get sweat rolling down my forehead onto my eyes, they’ll feel stingy and itchy because of the sun cream that was on my skin. I’ve not had this issue at all with Pelotan, and boy did I sweat when running in the Greek heat!
One single application goes a long way, up to 8 hours. Whilst I re-applied Pelotan every few hours just to be safe, it was very handy not to have to re-apply it every 90 minutes.
My absolute favourite product:
The Pelotan roll on is simply brilliant, guaranteeing hassle-free application anywhere, anytime. The roll-on is compact enough to fit in a small bag so you can easily carry it with you, and it doesn’t leak everywhere.
I usually have a hard time convincing my partner to put SPF on before going on a run, and he also complains about itchy eyes due to the mix of sunscreen and sweat.
But he found the roll on super handy and to my surprise, he was reaching for it without having to be nudged. So if your partner is also reluctant to apply sun protection, this could be your solution.
Any downsides?
I just wished there was an SPF 50 option available, as it’s usually what I use on my face.
Hopefully Pelotan are working on expanding their range of products. Fingers crossed for an SPF 50 line in the future!
