Oakley Frogskins sunglasses review: good for running?
I only recently (and finally) got myself a pair of running sunglasses. I bought the Oakley Frogskins XS and here’s my honest, unsponsored review.

What to consider when buying running sunglasses
When it comes to choosing the perfect running sunglasses, keep these factors in mind:
Lens Color: Select a lens color based on your typical running conditions. Golden tints work well in low-light situations, while darker tints are excellent for sunny and bright environments.
UV Protection: Your eyes deserve UV protection just like your skin. Excessive UV exposure can lead to eye sunburn, so prioritize sunglasses that shield you from harmful rays.
Comfort: Comfort is key! Ensure the frame sits snugly yet comfortably, without causing pressure on your nose or ears. Your sunglasses should stay in place with every stride.
Shape: Consider your running terrain. If you’re often on the trails or areas with flies and debris, opt for a wrap-around design that offers enhanced protection against mud, dust, and insects.

Oakley Frogskins sunglasses review
The iconic Oakley Frogskins sunglasses combine retro style and premium features. They have a thick frame made from the brand’s revolutionary and sturdy O Matter material.
They feature the brand’s Prizm™ lens technology which enhances colour, contrast and details. I chose the PRIZM Grey lenses which protect your eyes from the sun without making the environment too dark.
Their Plutonite® lens material filters 100% of all UVA and UVB up to 400nm and even some harmful blue light.
The Iridium® lens coating also guarantees glare reduction.
Despite being an adult, I had to go for the Frogskins XS which is the junior equivalent, as the regular Frogskins were slightly too wide.
What I like the most about the Oakley Frogskins sunglasses:
Their retro-inspired style is totally up my street and although I bought them for running, I can wear them all the time. They don’t look like obvious sports sunglasses.
Their comfort and fit. They sit perfectly and do not move, no matter how fast I do. I can even wear my Beats earphones and they’ll still sit securely.
Their accessibility. Compared to some other running sunglasses, they were reasonably priced whilst still offering high performance features and I couldn’t be happier with them.
Can you wear Oakley Frogskins with ear-hook earphones?
The good news is yes. I can comfortably wear my Oakley Frogskins whilst listening to music via my Beats Powerbeats Pro which have ear-hooks. It doesn’t hurt my ears and the glasses don’t move one bit.
Are the Oakley Frogskins good running sunglasses?
As a runner who mostly runs in daylight and on the road, I love my Oakley Frogskins and they’re perfect running sunglasses.
They’re lightweight, comfortable and protect my eyes from UVS. Wrap around designs absolutely do not fit me and I also wanted a pair of sunglasses that I could wear casually anytime without looking like I’m wearing sports sunglasses.
The Frogskins fit all the boxes, and didn’t break the bank!
