Facetheory vegan makeup review

You might have heard of Facetheory skincare, but did you know that they also do makeup? I had the opportunity to try their makeup range, so here’s my Facetheory vegan makeup review.

Disclaimer: this post is sponsored by Facetheory however all opinions are my own and I only recommend products I genuinely enjoy using or see benefits from.

About Facetheory

Facetheory is mainly known as a skincare brand, but they also have a makeup range. Through their affordable and effective products, the brand aims to celebrate everyone’s unique beauty.

Facetheory prides themselves in creating clean formulas without any nasty ingredients such as parabens, silicones, PEGs, SLS, SLES or mineral oils. Plus, every product is manufactured in the UK.

Is Facetheory vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes! Every single Facetheory product is vegan and cruelty-free. The brand is Leaping Bunny approved, an independent certification which is extremely selective.

I was kindly sent every product in a few different shades so that I could give my honest and full review of the range.

Primer

The silicone-free primer formula contains Plant cellulose which creates a pore-blurring effect and Vitamin C to help brighten your complexion. It is suitable for all skin types.

At first I was surprised by the texture, as I am used to gel primers and this one looks more like a lightweight moisturiser. But I absolutely love how it makes my skin look and feel. The smooth formula glides on and sets quickly, creating the perfect base for makeup.

It’s also great if you want to have a foundation-free day and use the primer to even out your complexion and keep you shine-free.

Foundation

If you love a lightweight foundation that blends in effortlessly, Facetheory foundation is for you! The silky texture is perfect to build your desired level of coverage.

Shade 2 is ideal for my skin tone (I’ll probably use shade 3 if I manage to get a tan this Summer) and I love applying it with my fingers first, then blending it in with a foundation brush. It’s great if you want to cover up imperfections but still keep a natural-looking complexion without any “cakey” finish.

The formula is non-comedogenic and suitable for sensitive skin. Plus, it has SPF15!

If you didn’t order quite the right shade, they’ll send you a free replacement that is one shade lighter or darker.

Loose Powder

I love setting my foundation with a little bit of loose powder so that it stays put for longer (and keeps me shine-free during Summer!). However there’s nothing worse than powder settling into creases or drying your skin.

Thankfully this Facetheory powder is talc-free and blends in perfectly, no risk of “chalky” face. The universal shade is suitable for all skin tones and the lightweight formula gives you the perfect matte finish.

I personally apply it with a powder brush after foundation but you can also wear it on bare skin for a slight blurring effect.

Blush

Amongst the whole collection, this blush was my biggest surprise! I have always used powder blush and didn’t expect much of this creamy one, but it actually turned out to be one of my favourite items from Facetheory.

Don’t be fooled by the highly pigmented formulas, they won’t be as vibrant on your skin! The cream-gel texture is super light and blends into your skin to give you a natural glow.

I only need to apply a little bit on my cheeks, forehead and nose and blend with my fingers to warm up my complexion. I’d recommend starting with a small amount and adding some more if you want a more intense result.

The cream blush is available in 4 shades, the one I love the most is Soft Baby Pink, which I sometimes mix with Soft Pinky Coral.

Lip Colour

If you love the texture of a gloss but prefer the finish of a lipstick, this Lip Colour range is a must-have!

The formula feels super hydrating and covers your lips with a satin-like layer of colour which you can build up if you want a bold lip makeup.

Bonus points for the bottle and cap which are made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic!

There are 6 colours available, my favourite is Peachy Nude for everyday makeup. But if you’ve been looking for a highly pigmented lipstick (which can be tricky with vegan formulas), try the Medium Red or Rosy Mauve shades.

Final words

I can genuinely say that I love all the products I have tried. The quality is amazing especially for such affordable prices and some shades are highly pigmented, which is not always a given with vegan formulas.

I also really like the fact that there is something for everyone, whether your love neutrals or bold colours. Facetheory are also working on their new vegan mascara, which I’m really looking forward to trying!

If I had to pick my 3 favourite products, I would choose: the Cream Blush as the texture absolutely blew me away, the foundation because it gives the perfect sheer coverage for a natural complexion and the primer, which is an absolute staple in my everyday makeup routine.
