Where to eat vegan in Lyon, France

See this content in the original post

It’s no secret that France is late to the party when it comes to plant-based options. However, things are moving in the right direction and the vegan scene is growing, especially in big cities such as Lyon. I recently spent 4 days in Lyon and here are my vegan food recommendations.

PS: if you’d rather watch than read, then you’ll see all these plant-based gems in my Lyon vlog :)

100% plant-based spots in Lyon

Hank for vegan burgers

Hank is a 100% plant-based burger spot that you will find in the major French cities. Their burger creations feature Natursoy and Beyond Meat patties. They also have a vegan fish patty.

My partner went for the Double Smack which is basically a double cheeseburger but vegan. I had the Rockeuse with the tofu-based Natursoy patty. The combo of rocket with fig sauce and red onion was delicious. I’ll definitely have this one again next time I visit.

As for the sides, you. can choose between nuggets, coleslaw or fries. If you’re still hungry, grab a homemade carrot cake or cookie to finish on a sweet note.

Address: 5 Pizay Street, 69001

Le Colibri for a vegan viennoiserie

This unique 100% vegan concept-store has a range of vegan croissants, pains au chocolat, brioche and even vegan cakes and pastries.

I was really looking forward to trying their chocolate brioche, unfortunately they didn’t have any the day I went. I guess I’ll have to come back!

But I did get a pain au chocolat which really surprised me. It had the exact same texture and taste as a “normal” one and it definitely hit the spot.

I also got a cookie, which had a great taste but had more of a dry biscuit texture than a gooey cookie.

Address: 60 Waldeck Rousseau Street, 69006

Zoi for a vegan patisserie

I would move to Lyon just to visit Zoi every week! This place is located at the top of a hilly street (Montee de la Grande-Côte, if you know you know) but trust me, it is worth the effort!

Zoi blends tradition and creativity, revisiting classic desserts such as the Paris-Brest or coming up with unique desserts that our sweet tooth will love.

Everything looks as good as it tastes and the hardest part is choosing what to get. My partner had the PB & Banana tart which he found absolutely delicious.

I had the Rose, which was rich and creamy on top with a crunchy biscuit base. They also do big cakes to order for special occasions.

Address: 46 Montee de la Grande Cote, 69001

Copper Branch for a fresh salad bowl or wrap

Copper Branch is a plant-based chain from Canada, now developing in Europe. There is a Copper Branch at the Part Dieu Westfield mall which is where we grabbed lunch after a few hours of shopping.

You can choose between a range of colourful salad bowls, wraps and burgers. Everything is freshly prepared and quickly served, so you can enjoy a healthy but tasty lunch break.

My partner had the Crispy Wrap with breaded vegan chicken, avocado, veggies and hummus. It was very filling and full of flavours.

My Azteque salad bowl was everything I want in a salad bowl: a bunch of different textures, colours and flavours. I really liked the falafels, almost caramelised sweet potato and the sweetcorn in mango dressing.

Addresses: 133 Servient Street, 69003 (inside the mall) and 112 Cours Charlemagne, 69002
