Where to eat vegan in Biarritz? From vegan froyo to vegan brunch

Looking for places offering vegan options in Biarritz? Check out these top picks.

Plant-based eats in Biarritz

This information is correct at the time of writing this article (June 2022), but the menus of these places may change.

Bali Bowls for an acai bowl

Bali Bowls is an eco friendly, plant-based concept inspired by island living and surfing. There are several locations across the globe, including two in Biarritz.

It is the go-to place for a delicious acai bowl, with a variety of options to choose from. You can also pick up a coffee and a slice of banana bread, or if you fancy something savoury, choose one of their tempeh or tofu poke bowls.

I had the classic acai bowl called Belharra, topped with coconut, granola and fresh fruit. It was delicious and tasted like proper acai.

Nuts for breakfast/brunch

Nuts is a cozy spot open until mid-afternoon, but I would suggest going there for breakfast as that’s when you can get vegan options (at least when I was there). The menu changes regularly and updates are shared on their Instagram page.

Vegan options for breakfast range from yog & granola to acai bowl, porridge and PB toast. I had the peanut butter toast with an almond flat white.

The coffee was great but the toast was a little disappointing. I would have preferred thicker, tastier bread.

Yogolicious for vegan froyo

I discovered this place completely by chance, on my way back from the beach. When I had a quick look inside and saw a vegan froyo option, I couldn’t believe it. Of course I had to try it!

Topping-wise, you can choose fruit, oreo and lotus biscoff biscuits (speculoos) to keep it fully vegan. It was really good, with pretty similar texture to the non-vegan froyo as I remember it.

I would highly recommend finding a bench on the “Perspective de la Cote des Basques” aka stunning viewpoint. (just a short walk away) to enjoy your froyo with a view.

Other places for vegan foods

These are places that have really good reviews but I’ve not had a chance to try them yet.

Milwaukee Café is an American Coffee Shop catering for all diets and offering vegan options. Unfortunately there’s no menu online so it’s quite tricky to know what you’ll be able to eat.

XUXU is a unique restaurant offering a homemade, gluten-free and organic menu that is also 100% vegan. They only open a few days a week and I wasn’t around at the right time, but I absolutely want to go back to Biarritz just to have dinner at this place!
