Maybean review: healthy food spot in Valencia

I recently spent a few days in Valencia and visited Maybean a couple times. Here’s my honest review of this health-conscious spot.

About Maybean

“You are what you eat” is Maybean’s motto, where every single menu item is free from additives, preservatives and refined sugars.

They healthy menu is everything but boring and you’ll find an array of delicious options from savoury waffles to carrot cakes and specialty coffees.

Maybean is located on 75, Calle Dr Manuel Candela. The restaurant is open every day except Tuesday, from 10am to 7pm.

It’s laptop-friendly on weekdays, making it a great spot to grab a bit whilst doing some work.

Maybean menu

There’s something for every taste: sweet and savoury toasts, wraps, salad bowsl, cakes and smoothies to name a few.

But what Maybean is mostly known for is their brunch formula, including a savoury main, a protein ball, a chia pudding, an orange juice and a hot drink.

You can check out their latest menu here.

Is Maybean vegan?

Maybean caters for all diets, but they have a variety of vegan options from the tofu bowl to the breakfast yoghurt & granola bowls.

Most of their desserts are plant-based and they don’t charge extra for plant-based milk.

Maybean review

I love “healthy” food that is tasty and satisfying, so Maybean sounded like it was right up my street. It’s a cute and cozy spot, there aren’t many tables and it can get quite busy around lunch time.

The staff is very friendly and they speak English, which is helpful!

I first went there for a late breakfast and decided to get the brunch formula. I chose the vegan waffle as a main (topped with hummus, roasted sweet potato fries, seed mix & dressing), the coconut protein ball and an oat flat white.

The savoury waffle dish was very tasty and filling, with a great combo of textures and flavours. It was my favourite item and I wish they had this on their menu outside the brunch formula. It was then nice to move onto some sweet things with the chia pudding and the protein ball.

The coffee was great too, I wish I had stayed in Valencia for longer to try some of their fancy ones, like the golden latte.

The brunch ( orange juice, coffee, savoury main, chia pudding and protein ball) is 13.90€ which is excellent value for money!

On my second visit I stopped by to grab a couple sweet treats. Although I was very tempted by the carrot cake, I cannot resist anything with nut butter so I settled for the peanut butter tarts, with chocolate and salty almond biscuit.

Between the rich peanut butter taste, the sweetness with hints of salt and the gooey texture, these mini tarts really hit the spot! Well worth the 3.50€ per unit.

I really wish I had discovered this spot earlier during my stay in Valencia and I’ll go there again next time I’m in the city.

If you’re also someone who likes to maintain a balanced diet when travelling and visiting healthy food spots, I’d absolutely recommend stopping by Maybean!
