Honest review of Hyatt House London Stratford Aparthotel

I paid for this accommodation myself and this review isn’t sponsored in any way. Here’s my honest experience in regards to my studio, visit to the gym and breakfast.

The studio

I arrived earlier than standard check in time and was offered the first studio that had been cleaned and was ready, which was an accessible one.

Whilst I appreciated being able to check in early, I think they should have told me that the shower would basically be a drain on the floor and curtains. Which is great for someone in a wheelchair but I would have preferred a more comfortable setting.

The rest of the studio was great, really comfy bed, a handy kitchenette and enough storage. Plus, I had a lovely city view of Westfield but couldn’t hear any outside noise. The wifi was really speedy in the room which is always appreciated.

The fitness centre

Being an early bird, I love when the hotel gym is open 24/7. I went there at 5am and was the only one for most of my session. The gym is mostly equipped with cardio machines. There’s a bunch of treadmills, a rower, some ellipticals and a couple spin bikes.

If you want to lift weights, your options are limited to dumbbells and 2 resistance training machines. There are 2 benches and a few mats.

Whilst I was able to get a good workout in, I think the cardio/weight ratio in the equipment isn’t the best and could be improved by adding a versatile cable machine and maybe a leg press or some kettlebells.

The breakfast

Breakfast opening at 6:30 is very accommodating for guests who in the vast majority are there for business and need to stick to their early morning schedule.

I had to catch a 7:30am train to the airport so I was also glad to be able to have breakfast before leaving.

I was pleasantly surprised with the variety of options for every diet and preference. I treated myself to some mini pastries, along with a bircher pot, orange juice and coffee.

My only “ick” is that I saw one employee grab a mini bread roll with her bare hands, put it back then grab one again, I couldn’t see if it was the same one or a different one.

She then nonchalantly headed back to the staff area. That was gross and I hope she wasn’t the one in charge of putting the bread and baked goods out for the guests.

Would I come back?

I really enjoyed the comfort of the studio, the prime location and the facilities. And just as I was about to leave after a great breakfast, I witnessed what the employee did.

I had no doubt before that I’d want to book another stay, and whilst I believe it was an isolated incident, it now makes me reconsider staying at the Hyatt House London Stratford again.
