Boody Underwear review | Ethical bamboo underwear

I didn’t know that bamboo underwear was a thing until trying Boody’s undies. Before my honest Boody underwear review, let’s dive into the brand sustainability practices and the environmental benefits of using bamboo.

About Boody

Boody is an Australian brand founded in 2011 by two best friends who wanted to combine their passion for timeless fashion with their interest in sustainability. Boody collections are now available worldwide and there is a dedicated Boody UK website.

The brand aims to provide high quality, durable wardrobe staples that are made from organic bamboo.

What makes Boody a sustainable and ethical brand?

Through using sustainable materials and committing to ethical practices, Boody aim to keep their footprint to the minimum whilst being as transparent as possible with their customers.
Here are some of their accredited certifications:

  • Ecocert: guarantees organic practices that respect the environment. The bamboo used by Boody is certified as organically grown by Ecocert.

  • ISO 14001: Boody’s production factories comply with ISO 14001 regulations, which are a list of requirements to ensure that organisations use to reduce their negative environmental impact.

  • WRAP: Stands for Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production and it ensures that garment is produced under lawful and ethical conditions.

Environmental benefits of using Bamboo for clothing

Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world and can reach over 100 feet tall. This plant is also able to grow in various climates and regenerates after being cut, making it an incredibly sustainable and renewable resource. Plus, it can be re-harvested forever without causing any environmental damage.

Bamboo also presents advantages when it comes to global warming. Growing incredibly fast, the plant can absorb a lot of CO2 and generate up to 35% more oxygen than equivalent stands of trees.

Read on Boody website: “One acre of bamboo sequesters 150 tons of carbon dioxide per year while one acre of young forest only sequesters 45 tons of carbon dioxide per year.”

Compared to cotton, bamboo requires much less water. Whilst 5000 gallons of water are required to produce two pounds of cotton, bamboo only needs less than 130 gallons of water for the same amount.

Another environmental benefits is that bamboo is very resistant and doesn’t need any pesticides or fertilizers to grow.

Boody underwear review

I was kindly gifted some Boody undies and this blog post is sponsored, but as always, I’m sharing my own personal thoughts :)

First impressions

When I opened the parcel, I first got a bit worried that the bra might be too small. I went for XS which according to their size guide was the right size for me. It was actually absolutely fine, the fabric is quite stretchy so it might look small but once you put it on it will most likely fit you.

My second thought as soon as I grabbed the items was “How can these be so soft?”. The fabric is softer than the softest cotton item I own. It honestly is incredible. If you have itchy or sensitive skin, bamboo is for you.

These undies are the definition of second skin. You put them on and you don’t feel them at all. No wires, no fastenings, no seams. Just pure softness.

Boody Shaper bra

The Shaper bra is the item that “wow” me the most. It is the first wireless bra I try that still offers support and a “rounded” shape, unlike many bralettes.

The Shaper bra is here to prove that you don’t need to choose between support and comfort, you can have both! It definitely is a true staple and as I can’t seem to want to wear anything else, I will buy more of these.

Even if you need a great deal of support, I’d highly recommend looking into this bra and reading the reviews, it is used by breastfeeding mums and they swear by it.

Boody Brazilian Bikini

I’ve always loved this Brazilian shape, I find that it’s the most flattering for my silhouette but there are other bottom shapes available, such as thongs.

Not only does it fit perfectly without making marks on your bum, but it’s also super breathable. I’ve loved wearing it when it’s that time of the month, as the soft and stretchy fabric doesn’t feel uncomfortable when I get bloated.

You guessed it, I’m definitely converted to bamboo underwear and this positive experience makes me want to try Boody’s loungewear and activewear ranges.

Here are some items I have my eyes on:

The Racerback sports bra
The Active leggings
The Goodnight dress
