Balance Me BHA Exfoliating Concentrate review

I had the chance to receive and try the latest Balance Me skincare product before the launch. Here’s my review of their new leave-on exfoliant, the BHA Exfoliating Concentrate.

What is the BHA Exfoliating Concentrate?

The product

Balance Me have just launched their BHA Exfoliating Concentrate which is a Salicylic Acid-rich leave-on exfoliant.

This chemical exfoliant is designed to purify the skin by gently getting rid of dead skin cells as well reducing blemishes and blackheads.

The BHA Exfoliating Concentrate works on the upper layers of the skin to remove the dead skin cells, making the skin look brighter and feel softer.

This product is vegan, cruelty-free and the bottle is made with nearly 50% recycled plastic.

RRP: £29 for 180ml

Where to buy it?

Who is it for?

Balance Me BHA Exfoliating Concentrate is suitable for all skin types and life stages. It will particularly benefit you if your skin is dull and/or prone to blemishes.

Plus, the gentle formula shouldn’t cause any redness or inflammation.

What are the key-ingredients of the BHA Exfoliating Concentrate?

This product contains over 99% natural ingredients, the main ones being:

Willow Bark which contains salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid (hence BHA in the product name). It’s a natural exfoliant that clears the pores.

Tiger Grass, a medicinal plant used for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Hyaluronic Acid, a star ingredient when it comes to making the skin feel supple and plumped.

Caffeine, used for its antioxidant properties. It reduces redness and sensitivity.

Squalane, a plant derived hydrator. It has very high emollience and helps regulate excess oil.

How to use the BHA Exfoliating Concentrate?

First, use your cleanser or face wash, rinse well and dry your face. I like the Pure Skin Face Wash from Balance Me, it’s great if you tend to get spots.

Then, apply several pumps of BHA Exfoliating Concentrate to a cotton pad (preferably reusable!) and wipe over your face, avoiding the eye area. This is as simple as that, no need to rinse!

Wait a few seconds for the product to dry before applying your next skincare product.

I like to follow up with my Smoothing Serum from the brand. It does contain retinol so make sure to apply SPF after this serum.

The BHA Exfoliating Concentrate can be used in the morning and evening.

Honest review of the BHA Exfoliating Concentrate

The bottle

First, I love the fact that the bottle is made with nearly 50% recycled plastic. The flat and round shaped pump is perfectly designed to apply a few pumps to a cotton pad.

The product

I tend to associate anything with the word “exfoliating” to something that will leave my skin red and itchy. This product isn’t like this at all. It feels extremely gentle and doesn’t cause any irritation.

It was also my first time using an exfoliant that doesn’t need rinsing. It’s very time effective and is perfect if you don’t have much time to dedicate to your skincare routine.

Results

I had several spots and my skin was inflamed when I started using the BHA Exfoliating Concentrate. After each use I noticed that my skin looked immediately brighter and on the third day, I noticed that it was visibly clearing up.

Although I was doing several things to help my skin, I really think that this product helped!

Will I keep using it?

Yes, I will keep using it in the morning (and maybe sometimes in the evening too if my skin needs some extra TLC).

It is an extra step in my skincare routine but as it’s a leave-on formula, it only takes an extra 30 seconds, so it’s definitely worth it!
